Seneca is a town in Faulk County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 58 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Seneca is located at coor dms|45|3|39|N|99|30|36|W|city (45.060962, -99.509911)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²), all of it land.

Seneca has been assigned the ZIP code 57473 and the FIPS place code 58140.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 58 people, 28 households, and 14 families residing in the town. The population density was 141.0 people per square mile (54.6/km²). There were 36 housing units at an average density of 87.5/sq mi (33.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.28% White and 1.72% Native American.

There were 28 households out of which 17.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% were married couples living together, 3.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.0% were non-families. 46.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 25.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the town the population was spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 13.8% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 34.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
