Virgil is a town in Beadle County in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The population was 25 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Virgil is located at coor dms|44|17|25|N|98|25|38|W|city (44.290237, -98.427107)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.

Virgil has been assigned the ZIP code 57379 and the FIPS place code 67500.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 25 people, 13 households, and 7 families residing in the town. The population density was 25.0 people per square mile (9.7/km²). There were 15 housing units at an average density of 15.0/sq mi (5.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 100.00% White.

There were 13 households out of which 23.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% were married couples living together, 7.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.5% were non-families. 38.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
