Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School opened in August 1993 with grades Pre-School-9 and 185 students. The school now enrolls 250 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten-12. The school has graduated ten classes, with a total of 145 graduates. All graduates have matriculated in undergraduate school, with 47 college graduates among TJ alumni. The school employs 28 full-time teachers, 82% of whom hold advanced degrees in their disciplines. Through its membership in the Missouri State High School Activities Association, Thomas Jefferson is able to participate with other schools in a wide variety of activities. Thomas Jefferson is a member of the Ozark 7 Conference. Other schools in that conference are McAuley, Southwest, Wheaton, Verona, Exeter, and Purdy. TJIDS is particularly notable for its
quizbowl program that has finished in the top three at state since 1997, winning the championship in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
