Abdul Nasser Madani

Abdul Nasser Madani (b.1965, Sasthamkotta, Kerala) is an Islamist political leader in Kerala, southern India. Madani organized an outfit known as the Islamic Sewak Sangh, which was banned in 1993 for terrorist activities. [A. Madani was arrested on 8 April, 1998 in connection with 1998 Coimbatore bombings in which 60 people were killed. He has been indicted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code - "spreading communal hatred", "criminal conspiracy", and "sedition". He was released on August 1, 2007 after being acquitted of all charges.

Assembly resolution

The Kerala assembly on March 16, 2006 passed a unanimous resolution seeking the release Abdul Nasser Madani, on “humanitarian” grounds. [http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1480998.cms]
