Makushino

Makushino (Russian: Маку́шино) is a town and the administrative center of Makushinsky District of Kurgan Oblast, Russia, located 181 kilometers (112 mi) east of Kurgan. Population: 8,337 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 9,942 (2002 Census);[2] 10,535 (1989 Census).[3]

It was founded by the migrant peasants who moved there from Central Russia. In 1896, a railroad station was built in the vicinity, and the settlement grew up around it. Town status was granted to it in 1963.
