List of Alien and Predator games

List of Alien and Predator games

This is a chronological list of games in the "Alien" and "Predator" science fiction franchises, including video games, trading card games, and other game varieties.

The first video game based on the "Alien" series of films debuted in 1982, based on the original 1979 film "Alien". Subsequent games by various developers were based on that film and its sequels "Aliens" (1986), "Alien 3" (1992), and "Alien Resurrection" (1997). The first game based on "Predator" was released in 1987, the same year as the film. Subsequent "Predator" games were based on that film and its sequel "Predator 2" (1990). The first game to merge the two franchises was "Alien vs Predator", released in September 1993 and based on an earlier comic book series. Since that time the characters and storylines of the two franchises have been officially merged in numerous comic books, video games, and the feature films "Alien vs. Predator" (2004) and "" (2007). Numerous video games have been released over the years based on the individual "Alien" and "Predator" franchises as well as the "Aliens vs. Predator" crossover imprint. These titles have been created by various game developers and released on numerous different video game consoles, handheld game consoles, personal computer platforms, and mobile phones.

The Aliens vs. Predator Collectible Card Game was released in 1997 and is one of the few non-video games based on the franchises.

Like the films on which they are based, the games take place in a fictional universe in which alien races and species have dangerous conflicts with humans and with each other. The games pit human, Alien, and Predator characters against one other in various fights for survival. Some of the games are set far in the future, while others are set in the present or in past eras.
