"I Never Said That I Was Brave" is an EP by Philadelphia-based indie rock band MewithoutYou, as well as their first-ever recording. It was released on the small Kickstart Audio label in early 2001, and has since been out-of-print.

The five songs feature the band at its hardest sounding, with frontman Aaron Weiss screaming instead of the singing-speaking hybrid he is known for today. Two tracks ("I Never Said That I Was Brave" and "We Know Who Our Enemies Are") were later re-recorded for the band's subsequent album, " [A to B: Life| [A to B] Life] "; the sequel to "Four Word Letter" appears on "Catch for Us the Foxes".

ong notes

*"We Know Who Our Enemies Are" [ [http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=129444&flush=trues SongMeanings.net] Read both the lyrics as well as the comments below.] is a reference to a line [ [http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=36473 SongMeanings.net] Original lyrics found near end of third verse.] from the Neutral Milk Hotel song "Oh Comely". The song also references the Fugazi song "Dear Justice Letter," borrowing the lyrics "here comes the kiss-off."
*"Flamethrower" has the lyrics "promises, promises, promises... words" which are taken from the Fugazi song "Promises."
