Columbia Mailman School of Public Health

The Columbia Mailman School of Public Health is one of the schools of Columbia University in New York City. It is one of the first schools of public health recognized by the Council on Education for Public Health and remains a leading academic and research institution. The beginnings of the school go back to 1922 when the university created the Institute of Public Health. However, it wasn't until 1945 when it became an official school. In 1999 it was renamed the Mailman School of Public Health after Joseph L. Mailman, a benefactor.[1] Currently, the school enrolls nearly 1000 students and is one of the largest recipients for sponsored research pertaining to public health.[1]
