He has lived in Bristol for 10 years since returning from an extensive period working in Vietnam, Tanzania and Ecuador as a field biologist.

Dilger was involved in an incident of allegedly provoking nesting swans on the River Cam during filming for the BBC's The One Show on 23 April 2010.[2]
