Michele Marsh

Michele Marsh

Michele Marsh (born March 9, 1954) is a former New York Television anchorwoman from Connecticut.

Michele started as a reporter/anchor at WABI-TV, Channel 5 in Bangor, Maine after graduating from Northwestern University. She reported in the field and anchored the 11 p.m. Monday-Friday newscasts, and the 6 p.m. Saturday newscast. She often had to shoot her own stories, initially in black and white before the station bought a color film processor. Michele left the station before it went to Electronic News Gathering (ENG), i.e. field video. She then moved to San Antonio, Texas and then on to New York City.

Marsh began working at WCBS-TV in 1979 as a reporter and then as co-anchor of the Saturday 11 p.m. edition of Channel 2 News. Within three months, Marsh was promoted to co-anchor of the 11 o'clock report alongside Rolland Smith. Outside of a brief period in 1981 and 1982, Marsh stayed as co-anchor of the 11 PM newscast until 1993 and worked alongside Smith, Mike Schneider, and Ernie Anastos; she was also anchor of both of the station's early evening newscasts for several years with Jim Jensen, Anastos, and John Johnson. In 1995, Marsh returned to anchoring the 11 PM newscast with Johnson, replacing Dana Tyler.

Marsh was one of several personalities fired by WCBS in October 1996, being fired shortly after completing the 5 PM newscast with her co-anchor John Johnson, who was also fired. Both were quickly hired by WNBC to anchor a new midday newscast for the station, but after one year Marsh was moved to calling WNBC's 6 PM newscast after Johnson abruptly retired due to family issues. In 2003, WNBC removed Marsh from her anchor chair, sparking a front-page story in New York's Daily News. She left the station and has not appeared on television since due to a non-compete clause in her still-active contract.
