As its name suggests, the village lies on the
River Ely , on the other side of which is the Coryton estate, and the localparish church (in heavily restored simplePerpendicular style) is dedicated toSaint Peter . There are small remains of acastle .Peterston-super-Ely is the primary outdoor filming location for the Welsh-language soap opera, "
Pobol y Cwm ".The village holds an annual arts festival.
