Margaret Lascelles, Viscountess Lascelles

Margaret Lascelles, Viscountess Lascelles

Margaret, Viscountess Lascelles (born 15 April 1948) is the former wife of David Lascelles, 8th Earl of Harewood.

She was born at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England as Margaret Rosalind Messenger to Edgar Frank Messenger and Margaret Alice Black. At one time, she was employed as a laboratory assistant at the University of Bristol.

Her former husband is the eldest son of the 7th Earl of Harewood. She married Lord Lascelles on 12 February 1979 at St. Mary's Church, Paddington, London, England and they divorced in 1989.

They had four children together:

The two older children were born out of wedlock. They were subsequently legitimated by the marriage of their parents and given the titles befitting children of a Viscount. Only her two younger children, legitimate from birth, fall within British peerage regulations, are heirs to the Harewood titles and are in the line of succession to the British throne.
