According to the
United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 95.2square mile s (246.7km² ), of which, 94.5 square miles (244.8 km²) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (1.9 km²) of it (0.79%) is water.Gibson Township is bordered by Lumber Township to the north, Grove Township to the east, Clearfield County to the south and Elk County to the west.
Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 222 people, 89 households, and 60 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 2.3 people per square mile (0.9/km²). There were 578 housing units at an average density of 6.1/sq mi (2.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 96.40% White, 1.35% Native American, 0.45% Asian, and 1.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.80% of the population.There were 89 households out of which 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.2% were married couples living together, 2.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the township the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 107.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.9 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $27,917, and the median income for a family was $36,667. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $14,167 for females. The
