Koliri (alternative writing: Kolyri,Kollyri,Kolírion) is one of the biggest villages near Pyrgos,
Greece , in the prefecture of Ilia. It is located twokilometer s northeast from Pyrgos, on a small hill and it has a population of about 1,000 people (Its population, according to the 2001 census, is 1,061 inhabitants) , and it's commonly known for its very good taverns. It has two churches: the Church ofAgios Nikolaos and the Church ofAgioi Theodoroi .It has taken its name by the bird "
kolirion ", which used to fly over the region.Koliri was one of the villages which were hit by the fires of August 2007. The dense forests near Koliri are now black woods, including many
olive grove s. Also some houses in the village were burned.General information:
