Crisologo Abines

Crisologo Abines

Crisologo Abines (1947 – January 28, 2008) was a Filipino politician. He was elected to three terms in the House of Representatives, representing the 2nd District of Cebu from 1987 to 1998. He served in the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Congresses.

After his service in Congress, Abines was tried along with three others for the 1999 murder of a soldier inside a cockpit in Santander, Cebu. He was acquitted by the Sandiganbayan, though two of his co-accused were convicted.[1]

During the 2007 elections, Abines served as the provincial chairman of the United Opposition for Cebu.[2] He also unsuccessfully sought re-election to his old congressional seat.[1] He died of a myocardial infarction in January of the following year.
