The Ottawa Athletics were a professional minor-league baseball team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that operated from 1952-1954. The team played at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa.
History
After the 1951 season, the Ottawa Giants folded. However, the Philadelphia Athletics were interested in locating their AAA affiliate in Canada's capital, and in 1952, the Ottawa Athletics were formed.
The team relocated in 1955 to Columbus, Ohio to become the Columbus Jets and remained the A's (who had moved to Kansas City, Missouri) AAA affiliate until 1957. In 1971 the franchise left Columbus due to the poor condition of the ballpark and relocated to Charleston, West Virginia as the Charleston Charlies. The team returned to Columbus in 1977 to become the Columbus Clippers.
