Jarle Andhøy

Jarle Andhøy (born October 23, 1977) is a Norwegian adventurer and sailboat-skipper who, with Norwegian television starvague|date=March 2008 Alex Rosèn, went on a voyage with the 27-foot sailing vessel "Berserk II" to Svalbard and Russia.

The voyage became the television series "Berserk to Valhalla" which aired on NRK in 2005. In 2006, they published a book about the voyage.

Voyages

In June 2002, Andhøy, Rosèn, and David Mercy, an American, sailed to the Arctic; their goal was to sail in the path of Ohthere, the Viking chief, and to sail as far as possible north towards the Arctic ice.fact|date=March 2008 The expedition set a world record, as no other sailing vessel had ever sailed as far north in open water, but they were later evicted from Svalbard and had three trials in court.vague|date=March 2008fact|date=March 2008

In July 2004, the expedition continued towards Russia after Norwegian police tried once more to stop them.fact|date=March 2008 They succeeded, sailing on to Archangelsk, and further trough the "Stalin canals"vague through to the Baltic Sea.

Andhøy is also known for having sailed alone around Cape Horn at the age of 19; on the same trip, he sailed down to the Antarctic. In 2002, he published the book about the experience entitled "Alene Rundt Kapp Horn" ("Alone Around Cape Horn").

In the summer of 2007, Andhøy started on a new expedition to explore the Northwest Passage, sailing from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean along the Canadian coast.fact|date=March 2008
