Rocky is a town in Washita County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 174 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Rocky is located at coor dms|35|9|23|N|99|3|36|W|city (35.156397, -99.059987)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 174 people, 77 households, and 50 families residing in the town. The population density was 771.6 people per square mile (292.1/km²). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 376.9/sq mi (142.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 91.95% White, 4.02% Native American, 2.87% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.45% of the population.

There were 77 households out of which 22.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% were non-families. 31.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.84.

In the town the population was spread out with 20.1% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 21.3% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 24.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 85.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,972, and the median income for a family was $42,500. Males had a median income of $21,786 versus $20,500 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,193. About 10.4% of families and 15.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.9% of those under the age of eighteen and 24.3% of those sixty five or over.
