2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships

The 2012 IIHF World U20 Championship, commonly referred to as the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, is the 2012 edition of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and will be hosted in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. Edmonton and Calgary were chosen as the host cities on August 28th, 2008, according to TSN.ca.

Bid Process

*Joint bid from Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta;
*Halifax, Nova Scotia;
*Joint bid from London and Windsor, Ontario;
*Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;
*Toronto, Ontario; and
*Winnipeg, Manitoba

*Joint bid from Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta;
*Toronto, Ontario; and
*Joint bid from Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

The London/Windsor group withdrew their bid on March 20, 2008, while Halifax and Winnipeg withdrew their intent to host in 2012, but still applied to host in 2010.

Saskatoon and Regina were announced as hosts of the 2010 tournament on July 7, 2008, effectively putting Saskatchewan out of the running to host the 2012 tournament.
