Holly Cunningham is the daughter of Cindy Cunningham and Lee "Stan" Stanley, who died before her birth. Holly was born on Christmas day 1997, the same day her aunt Dawn died. She lived in Hollyoaks Village from 1997 - 2001 and made returns in 2004 and 2008. In June 2008 she and her Mother Cindy returned from Spain (where they had been living since 2001) after Cindy and her boyfriend Phillipe split up.

In June 2008, she wound up her uncle Tom (who is two years younger than Holly) by saying that Max Cunningham was not going to marry his girlfriend Steph as Cindy had said they where over. This was later proved not to be true as Max and Steph announced that they were getting married.

At the end of June, Cindy's Brother Max died and Cindy decided to stay in the village with Holly.

On 6 August 2008, it was revealed in Max's will that Holly and Ella were left with £3,000 each which they can access when they are 18.

On 7 August 2008, Cindy and Max's widow Steph started fighting over the will as Cindy was furious that she has only been left DVDs in his will. Cindy's stepsister Mandy tried to separate the waring pair but ended up being dragged into the fight too. Holly looked on in horror at what was happening and threw a bucket of rotten fruit over them and begged them to stop. They did and Cindy and Steph agreed to a truce for Holly's sake.

Eddie Griffiths

Played by actor and musician Che Watson since 2006

Eddie is a police officier and works alongside Calvin Valentine. Eddie first appeared in 2006, when Calvin was going to move in with him. Calvin then decided not to after the death of his mother. In 2008, Eddie found drugs in Calvin's coat pocket after seeing him with Nige. The following day, Eddie confronted Calvin and told him that he was going to report him to Superintendent Lacey, but Calvin later convinced him not to.

He returned on 15 September 2008, during a routine search of The Loft.

Charlie Dean

Charles "Charlie" Adam Dean is the son of Becca Dean, who gave birth to him after being sentenced to imprisonment after alleged under-age activity with Justin Burton. After Charlie was born, it was unknown whether Justin or Jake Dean was his father. Steph Dean convinced him to take a paternity test in January 2007, but Jake destroyed the results and assumed the role of Charlie's father, along with Nancy Dean.

When Charlie was taken in to hospital in January 2008 for leukaemia treatment, it was revealed that Jake was not the father (his blood did not match that of Charlie), and that Justin was actually the father of Charlie. After the start of the custody proceedings between Nancy and Jake (following Jake's attempted rape of Nancy), in March 2008, Jake attempted to take his own life, along with that of Charlie. Charlie is now living with the Osborne's until the final custody case later this year.

Leah Barnes

Leah is the baby daughter of teenager Amy Barnes, from a one-time encounter with a boy named Billy. Amy initially wanted to terminate her pregnancy, but eventually opted for a state of denial, with no one outside of Michaela McQueen aware she was pregnant. In March 2007, she gave birth on her kitchen floor, with her shocked father Mike and sister Sarah delivering the child.

Amy refused to go near Leah, leading mother Kathy, happy to avoid a town scandal, to claim she was Leah's mum. This ruse continued for several months, but finally Michaela sold the story to a tabloid. By this time, Amy had begun to bond with Leah, and claimed the baby as her own, but Kathy had become obsessed with Leah. When Kathy failed to make Amy look incapable, she kidnapped Leah and had to be sectioned. She left town for good a few months later and is only a minor part of Leah's life.

Leah's young life was thrown into turmoil once again in October 2007 when Amy began passing her juvenile delinquent boyfriend Ste Hay off as Leah's dad. When the tension between Ste and Mike became unbearable, Ste and Amy moved with Leah into a council flat, here Leah celebrated her 1st Birthday. The young couple continued to live in poverty with one setback after another until finally in March 2008 Ste was caught stealing a purse and in order to get out of serious trouble, lied that he needed money for Leah's leukemia. The lie quickly spread out of his control, and Ste and Amy began raking in money as they wondered when everyone would find out the truth. Eventually, the truth did come out. At first Leahs 'grandmother' Pauline found out and stole the money off Amy and Ste, then Mike found out and eventually the truth came out to the whole village after Amy and Ste decided to tell everyone that she was getting better.

Leahs mum, Amy recently resat her GCSEs due to failing them last year as Leah was born. Ste and Amy went out for a drink afterwards to celebrate leaving Leah in the care of Sasha Valentine, one of Amy's best friends. Sasha was looking after Leah, and Leah who was clearly distressed, kept crying for her mum. Nige came around and pressured Sasha into taking drugs. Sasha immediately did so and her and Nige went to the bedroom, leaving Leah within close distance of a needle. Amy and Ste returned home and hearing Leah's cries, came rushing in to find Leah alone near the needle and Sasha and Nige in their bedroom. Ste threw Sasha and Nige out after threatening them.

Malachy Fisher

Malachy is Kris' brother, who still called him by "Francis" and had no idea he was a bisexual cross-dresser. Kris hid his true self during Malachy's first visit, which bothered Kris' on-off lover, Jessica Harris. To make Kris jealous, Jess slept with Malachy. The next day, Kris kissed his boyfriend Nathan, and Malachy walked in. Malachy spit at him and shoved him against the wall. When Kris tried to explain, Malachy decided Kris was going through a phase, and returned home.

Several months later, Malachy briefly returned for a construction job and befriended Jake Dean, advising him to be more assertive. Although Malachy was still not happy with the "wee transvestite", they managed to become closer and Malachy began to slightly accept what Kris was, leading the brothers to have a better relationship as Malachy again departed back to Northern Ireland.

In May 2008, Kris texted his brother wishing him a Happy Birthday, but he didn't reply, leading Kris to continue to believe that their relationship was still the same, if not, worse since they parted.

Malachy returned on 25 July 2008, and questioned Kris about the whereabouts of their father. After hearing Kris reporting Sasha's disappearance on his radio show, Malachy confronted him asking why he didn't care about where their father was.

Malachy has embarked on a relationship with Mercedes McQueen. Which results in Malachy falling for the fiesty young Mcqueen. In September, Malachy had a blood test, in which his horrors come to the fact that he has HIV. He then went on the run. When Mercedes realises that her boyfriend has gone she deliberately slept with his brother Kris. when he came back he confessed that he had HIV to his brother Kris but didn't tell Mercedes. Mercedes found out Malachy may have infected her with HIV on Tuesday 30 September.

Nana McQueen

Played by actress Diane Langton since July 2007.

Nana was first seen when flirting with Russ Owen at The Dog. She entered the McQueens' house to find her granddaughters fighting. When the rest of the McQueens got back she saw Russ and claimed he was chatting her up at The Dog. It appears she has favourites in the family. She dislikes Jacqui as she was not invited to her wedding, she married an illegal immigrant and put Myra through a lot with her criminal activities. It appears her favourite grandchild is Mercedes as she invited her to her wedding and they are "two peas in a pod". She does not appear to like Tina very much as she is "boring".

Nana reappeared in October 2007 when Carmel and John Paul nearly died from carbon monoxide poisoning. She stirred the pot by lying to Mercedes that she had seen Carmel and Russ kiss at the hospital. Myra tried to get along with her, but after she realised Nana had tried to steal the compensation money the family had received for Carmel and John Paul, Myra threw her out. Nana reminded Myra that she was her mother, but Myra said that she had stopped being her mother at the age of 14. Nana said she'd be back, and then left in a huff.

Nana returned for the family's Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations, where her first name was revealed to be "Marlena". Neither she nor the rest of the family realised their guest Niall Rafferty was the son Nana had forced Myra to give up at birth. During the dinner, Nana toasted Tina for being a surrogate for Jacqui and her boyfriend Tony. Myra got upset and left the table. Nana found her in a bathroom, weeping over old newspaper clippings of the child she had given up at birth. Myra told her mother she could never forgive her, or herself. Nana told her to quit whining and that she had been right to give up the child. Myra slapped her and Nana slapped her back, leaving as she refused to be treated in such a manner.

In February 2008, Nana returned after Myra was arrested for benefit fraud. After having an argument with Myra she went to The Dog in The Pond with Niall where she got drunk and confessed to Niall that she forced Myra to give him up at 14. In revenge Niall attacked her and left her for dead. She was later found by her granddaughter Tina, and returned home the next day. Nana and the rest of the McQueens are unaware that it was Niall that attacked her.

In September 2008, it was revealed that she is currently on a cruise so she couldn't attend Carmel and Calvin's wedding.

Valerie Holden

Valerie Holden arrived in the village with her two children Danny and Lauren, who are the illegitimate children of Leo Valentine. She turned up at the Valentine residence to demand that Leo looked after the two while she sorted out her housing problems.

She returned in January 2008 to live with the Valentines, causing a stir with the locals. She took Sasha out clubbing and was involved in a fight with Katy Fox, which they both spent a night in the cells for. She then clashed with the McQueens over bingo winnings and began planning Carmel McQueen's wedding to Calvin.

It has been confirmed that the actor who plays Valerie, Samantha Giles, is currently on maternity leave.

Valerie left on 12 September 2008 to live in Spain.

Nige

Portrayed by actor Sam Townend from December 2007 until August 2008.

Nige was an acquaintance of Ste's who took over the local drug-pushing trade from one of Ste's friends, Tommo. Nige bullied Ste into temporarily letting him move into the flat Ste shared with Amy and her baby Leah. When Michaela met him, it was lust at first sight and they quickly made use of Ste and Amy's bedroom. She forced her bandmates Fletch and Josh to let him join, although his abilities were limited to a very poor trumpet. He later asked her to give a year 11 student drugs. The student wasn't there and Michaela threw the drugs at Amy when she saw teacher Russ heading their way. Amy got out of trouble, but Nige wanted his money. When Amy protested, Nige threatened her.

Nige returned some months later when Sasha Valentine needed heroin. She reluctantly slept with him in order to get the drugs. Fletch, who by that time was also a heroin addict, was repulsed by what she had done, but finally agreed to Nige's demand that he sell drugs to schoolkids in return for some heroin of his own. She slept with him again while babysitting Leah, who got dangerously close to a syringe.

Later, Nige needed money to pay his suppliers, and he resorted to stealing Justin Burton's laptop and having Sasha assist him in breaking into recently widowed Steph Cunningham's flat. When Danny caught Sasha in Steph's flat, Danny and Leo tracked down and beat up Nige.

Later, Calvin spotted Nige dealing drugs and took them Nige and told him to run, Calvin then put the drugs in his pocket, only for them to be uncovered by his partner Eddie later on, which resulted in Calvin nearly losing his job. Warren Fox revealed to Calvin he had the whole transaction between Calvin and Nige on tape, and after a few days of blackmailing Calvin with the tape, Warren asked for Calvin's assitance at The Loft. Calvin went in to find Nige there arguing with Warren. Nige spotting Calvin, pulled a knife and as Calvin tried to defuse the situation, Nige teased him about sleeping with Sasha, Calvin lost it and attacked Nige. During the scuffle Nige stabbed Calvin and Calvin hit Nige with a blunt object to the head. As Calvin was rushed to hospital, Warren met him the next day and revealed Calvin had killed Nige. Warren made plans with Calvin to dispose of the body, but Calvin failed to keep them, resorting in Warren having to dispose of the body himself.

Eli

Eli showed up in Chester on 8 April 2008 and surprised his old friend Newt; Newt and Eli had met in foster care when Newt was 8 and Eli was 12, and the two young men had kept in contact ever since. Eli was AWOL from the army and Newt agreed to hide Eli in his room.Since his arrival, Eli has been making Newt do pranks on people, like telling newt to make Lauren pour red dye in a bottle of shampoo, and stealing Steph's folder, however, these small pranks eventually got more serious, to the level of making a small smoke-bomb and planting it in The Loft, and trashing Evissa, which began to scare Newt who didn't want to go along with these plans, but Eli made him.

Throughout Eli's appearances, nobody other than Newt had seen or interacted with Eli, the only person having ever talk to him being Newt, leading many fans to believe that Eli was just a figment of Newt's imagination. These theories were proven in the episode shown on 20 June 2008 (19th on E4), when Lauren found videos that Newt made, of him performing the actions that Eli had supposedly done, and at the end of the episode, whilst Newt and Eli were talking, and chanting 'Eli's gonna get ya', Eli disappeared and it was revealed that Eli (or the Eli that we had been seeing at least) never existed. He was Newt's alternate identity, acting out all Newt's thoughts, much like the film Fight Club. Since then, it has been shown that Newt in fact has Schizophrienia, and Eli is an dangerous audiable hallucination caused by this.

Ravi Roy

Ravi was first seen on 20 May 2008, when Nancy Dean thought he was kidnapping her nephew Charlie. The misunderstanding was settled, but no love was lost between the pair. Ravi then got a job working as a bouncer at Warren Fox's nightclub, The Loft.

Ravi has since moved in with Warren and Louise after failing to pay his rent at his previous accommodation.

In June 2008, he was asked by Louise to do some interviews at the Loft for new staff. When Nancy thought about applying for the job, he laughed in her face, but when she turned up at the flat, Louise was more than delighted to give her the job because she saw it as a chance to get back at Frankie.

In June 2008 also, Newt planted a smoke bomb in The Loft, to get back at Louise and Warren. Ravi evacuated the club, and a eventually grateful Nancy, who greeted her hero with a kiss when she came around. They both obviously like each other, and have a secure banter going on, where Ravi always seems to a better comeback, such as calling Nancy titch, but they both like their banter and both are going to come together in the future after the arrival of Ravi's sister.

Ravi taught Nancy how to do boxercise, and wronged her again when he upstaged her teaching with the fact his father is the headmaster of a school.

Ravi is shown to have a caring side, telling Nancy how to cope with her hang over, and speaking to his mum on the phone, he also became offended when Warren put down the bombing onto him because of his race, and Ravi had a conversation with Danny Valentine, asking him if he had ever had trouble because of this race.

On Tuesday 19 August Ravi with the help of Warren Fox decided to go into a relationship with Nancy Dean (née Hayton).

Leila Roy

Played by the actress Lena Kaur.

Leila is a new student at Hollyoaks Community College where she is doing a catch-up course over the summer. This is so that she will be accepted onto an art course at HCC later in the year, after failing a law degree elsewhere. Leila is the younger sister of 'The Loft' doorman Ravi Roy. Since her first appearance, she has lived with Kris, Elliot and Zak in the Halls of residence at HCC and has admitted to Nancy that she has a crush on Justin. She has many superstitions and is a strong believer of horoscopes. It has also been revealed that she is a vegetarian and is anti-consumerist, which makes her similar to her brother's new girlfriend Nancy Dean.

On 15 August 2008, Leila offered her help to Justin and Ste when they revealed to her that they needed money for rent. The only way she could help was to sell the jewellery which Ste had found in a computer. The stall that she sold the jewellery on became quite popular until she was arrested by two non-uniformed police officers for selling stolen goods.

On 22 September 2008 Leila bumped into Justin Burton and knocked him out, she went to the hospital with him and said to a nurse that she was his girlfriend. The nurse stated that Justin had lost his memory, so she pretented to be his girlfriend. Ste Hay then told Justin at Josh Ashworths house party that Leila was pretending that she was his girlfriend and Justin decided to go along with it and got her back by making her do his chores, she then got a shock when Justin fake proposed and he then told her the truth that her was lying!

Maxwell Anthony Dominic McQueen Hutchinson, biological son to Tina Reilly and Russ Owen. He is named after Tony Hutchinson's good friend Max Cunningham, who died in June 2008.

He was originally going to be adopted by Tony and Jacqui Malota, but was later kept by Tina's husband Dom. Afterwards, Tina decided to give baby Max to Tony and Jacqui as intended, after Jacqui threatened to out Tina's encounter with Russ.

Conception / Paternity Revealed On Tuesday 25 March 2008, whilst Tina was at the hospital having her 12-week pre-natal scan, it was revealed that the baby was in fact 15 weeks old and therefore must have been conceived on Thursday 6 December 2007, the night she and Russ Owen had a one-night stand. A shocked Tina confessed all to a furious Jacqui. Jacqui convinced her to keep quiet, telling her that otherwise both their marriages would be in ruins.

Birth by hysterectomy

Tina was rushed into hospital and the baby went through cesarean. Baby Max was given to Tony and Jacqui - due to Jacqui's own reproduction complications. However, a twist in the tale was that Tina had received an emergency hysterectomy - therefore rendering her unable to have children again. Later we see Myra and Dom try to persuade Jacqui and Tony to give the baby back to Tina, who does want to keep the baby as her own. After Jacqui blackmails Tina by saying that she will tell everyone about Tina and Russ's affair, Tina eventually hands Baby Max over.

On the 25 July 2008 Tina knocked on Jacqui and Tony’s door with Max’s birth certificate and it was revealed that Tony's name was listed as birth father. Baby Max's full name was Maxwell Anthony (after his presumed father) Dominic (after his uncle) and his surname would be McQueen – Hutchinson.

Tina had secretly been breast feeding Max while baby-sitting him for Jacqui. Eventually she was caught by Jacqui and husband Dom. The following day Tina decided she wanted to raise Max, after gaining support from her family and Max's "father" Tony. Jacqui has since moved out of her home with Tony, and moved back into her family's home, where Tina, Dom and baby Max are currently living. Tina and Jacqui's relationship has since become very strained.

Caroline Cooper

Played by Kari Corbett since July 2008.

Caroline first appeared in July 2008. Caroline asked Russ to look after her phone and if she wasn't back in 15 minutes then he should ring the number on the screen. Russ thought it was some sort of wind up, but Caroline returned in different clothes. Zak thought he had a chance with her but it seemed that she was more interested in Russ.

The pair started a relationship but Russ felt uncomfortable with the fact that she seemed shady about her lifestyle.

On 7 August 2008, Caroline told Russ that she worked for MI6 and had to be careful about being in public. However, the following day, whilst playing football with Zak, Russ spotted Caroline in a postman's outfit and realised that she had been lying to him. Caroline told Russ that she didn't want him to know incase he thought that she was boring, she apologised to Russ and the couple decided to continue their relationship.

On the 26 September Russ And Caroline Decided To Go Travel The World. Russ decides he can't leave and stays to look after his son, Max. Caroline Left to go travelling on her own.
