Following the review of parliamentary representation in
Tyne and Wear , theBoundary Commission for England has created a modified Tynemouth constituency to be fought at the next UK general election in 2009 or 2010.During the public consultation into the changes, a proposal to change the constituency name to "Tynemouth and Whitley Bay" was rejected. The electoral wards used to create the modified seat are;
