*From the borough of Halton - Beechwood, Daresbury, Halton Lea, Norton North, Norton South, and Windmill HillHistory
The Weaver Vale constituency was created in 1997, when the number of constituencies in Cheshire was increased from 10 to 11. It was formed from parts of the
Eddisbury, Tatton , Halton and Warrington South constituencies.Since the 1997 general election, the seat has been held by the Labour Party's Mike Hall, who first entered Parliament in 1992 for Warrington South. Although Labour have held the seat relatively easily (with Northwich being their strongest area), it is a likely target for the Conservatives, with them having held two of the predecessor seats in the past.
