In the
Infocom interactive fiction adventure,Leather Goddesses of Phobos , the hero was from Upper Sandusky, Ohio and the first scene of the adventure game took place in a bar in the town. Steve Meretzky, an Infocom interactive fiction author, chose the setting of Upper Sandusky at random and did not intend the town to be reflected in any particular light. When he visited the town some years after writing Leather Goddesses, he found that no one there knew about the game.
