newspaper inTrinidad and Tobago . Founded in 1917, the "Guardian" is published by theTrinidad Publishing Company . Published as abroadsheet since 1917, the newspaper changed totabloid format, known as the "G-sized Guardian", in November 2002.Its slogan is "The Guardian of Democracy".
The "Guardian" is headquartered on St. Vincent Street,
Port of Spain , with a branch office on Chancery Lane, San Fernando.During the 1990 coup attempt, the "Guardian"'s headquarters, one block south of the Red House (the seat of Parliament), was occupied by the army as part of the cordon around the Red House.
