- University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor
The University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor, founded in 1978 by the
University of Michigan 's "M" Club, recognizes athletes, coaches and administrators who have made significant contributions to the university's athletic programs. To qualify for induction into the Hall of Honor, an individual must have "earned All-America recognition in a team or individual sport or, as individuals have established an NCAA, American or World record; won an NCAA title, or made significant contributions to the Michigan Athletic Department as a coach or administrator."cite web|title=Hall of Honor|publisher=M Club|url=http://www.letterwinnersmclub.com/hallofhonor.html]Hall of Honor firsts
The first group inducted into the Hall of Honor in 1978 was
Gerald R. Ford ,Bill Freehan ,Tom Harmon ,Ron Kramer ,Bennie Oosterbaan ,Cazzie Russell , andBob Ufer . The second induction class in 1979 consisted ofFritz Crisler ,DeHart Hubbard ,Ray Fisher ,Charlie Fonville ,Willie Heston ,Chuck Kocsis ,George Sisler ,Germany Schulz ,Rudy Tomjanovich andFielding H. Yost .The first women inducted into the Hall of Honor were Olympic diving gold medalist
