*Bill Flemming, (LS&A) Announcer on ‘Wide World of Sports,’, was one of the original announcers on ABC’s “Wide World of Sports,”. For a 60 year span, Flemming was one of the principal voices in early days of the rise the electronic coverage of sports. During his career he announced 11 Olympics. He originally planned to prepare for medical school but switched to a concentration in speech. In 1949, he won a campuswide speech contest, for which the prize was a summer job at WUOM, the campus radio station.

*Aaron Ward, 1991-1993. Current Boston Bruin and member of 3 Stanley cup teams: the Carolina Hurricanes 2006; with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998). Considered a regular at reaching the Stanley Cup finals, Ward has skated in four of the last six playoff campaigns.
