Blount Generating Station, also known as Blount Street Generating Station is a base load, coal-fired, electrical power station located in the town of Madison, Wisconsin, in Dane County.
Fuel
As of 2008, Blount is fueled by coal and pre-consumer waste containing both paper and plastic. MGE plans to refuel the facility to more expensive, but cleaner natural gas in 2011. From 1979 to 1993 the facility burned refuse derived fuel diverting waste from the local landfill and generating electricity with it. It also test burned switchgrass in 1995 and 1996. Units
Blount has nine boilers and six steam turbines. As of 2006, only five were operational: [cite web
