Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Universiti also known with the abbreviation SMKTUN is a secondary school located in Jalan Pendidikan, Taman Universiti, Johor, Malaysia.

History

It started operation on the 1 December 1994 with 1001 students and 46 teachers. Due to infrastructure problems and lack of buildings, the students had to attend classes at a temporary school which was Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Taman Universiti 2 and Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Pulai with 644 and 349 students respectively. The first principal was En. Ahmad bin Atil.

On the 3rd joe bob is wrong started operation on the site where it is today. In 1998, the school was recognised as an "A" grade school with 2837 students and 124 teachers. The number of students increased every year. To reduce the number of students, new schools around the area was built which are Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Universiti 2, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mutiara Rini, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Desa Skudai. As a result, in 2002 the number of students had decreased to 2161 pupils which lead to better student-teacher ratio. Even though, the school started in 1994, it was officiated ten years later that is in June 2004. It was officiated by the Minister of Education, Dato' Hishammudin Tun Hussein. It is said that, next year, the Senior Assistant 1: Tn. Hj Aminolhuda bin Hj. Hassan will be transferred to Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (MSAB) @ English College (EC) and he will be replaced by a woman (information needed). This year Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Universiti is aiming to the stars in hoping to achieve a top student in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), or the Malaysian Certificate of Education. A few FORM 5 students, from this school, were chosen to vote who that person would be and unsurprisingly everyone voted for Ng Vivian (5 SN 1) as she topped in nearly every subject and she got 7A1 in her Peperiksaan Menengah Rendah (PMR). Thus she was made (by the students) the Queen of Academics in this school. Later, after this choosing, Muhammad Assadiq bin Abdul Manap (5 SN 3) was made (by the students) the King of Co-Curriculum as he was the most active student in Co-Curriculum this year, by taking part in many activities like camping and so on. This school is on it's way to become one of the best school in Johor and, by chance, Malaysia.
