Sola Lower Secondary School

Sola Lower Secondary School

Sola Lower Secondary School ( _no. Sola Ungdomsskole) is a Norwegian lower secondary school situated in the municipality of Sola, Norway. The school's incumbent principal is Gunnstein Ueland.

History

The school was built in 1964 to serve up to 200 people and was the first lower secondary school in Sola. In 1980, the school was renovated and a new sector called the K sector was constructed. The K stands for the Norwegian word for classroom, "Klasserom". In 2004, the school celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Controversy

In 1999-2000, discussion arose for either building a new school or to renovate the existing one. Pupils who started at the school in 2001-2002 and onwards were promised a new renovated school, but nothing ever happened. From 2004 onwards the school was working on illegal licensesfact|date=May 2008. In 2007, the municipality board voted for renovation of the school, however, nothing happened. Then one year later the first work was started. The work is scheduled to be completed in three years.
