Airdrie-Chestermere is a primarily urban riding bordering the city of Calgary on the north and east. Contained within is the city of Airdrie, the largest suburb of Calgary, as well as the towns of Chestermere and Crossfield. It represents the eastern half of the Municipal District of Rocky View.

Voters in the region have supported the Progressive Conservatives for virtually the entire last three decades, except for the winter of 1992 when Liberal candidate Don MacDonald won a by-election in the defunct Three Hills electoral district. He was defeated by current incumbent Carol Haley in the 1993 election.

Election results

2004 general election

On November 19, 2004 a Student Vote was conducted at participating Alberta schools to parallel the 2004 Alberta general election results. The vote was designed to educate students and simulate the electoral process for persons who have not yet reached the legal majority. The vote was conducted in 80 of the 83 provincial electoral districts with students voting for actual election candidates. Schools with a large student body that reside in another electoral district had the option to vote for candidates outside of the electoral district then where they were physically located.
