Bluefield micropolitan area

The Bluefield Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of two counties – one in West Virginia and one in Virginia – anchored by the city of Bluefield, West Virginia.

As of the 2000 census, the μSA had a population of 107,578 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 105,205). Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 107,578 people, 44,786 households, and 31,178 families residing within the μSA. The racial makeup of the μSA was 94.05% White, 4.36% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.007% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.

The median income for a household in the μSA was $26,966, and the median income for a family was $33,628. Males had a median income of $29,012 versus $19,331 for females. The per capita income for the μSA was $19,331.
