Paolo Cirino Pomicino

Paolo Cirino Pomicino (born on 3 September 1939 in Napoli) is an Italian politician, and was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in the 2006 General election repesenting the Christian Democracy for the Autonomies.

Previously he was a Member of the European Parliament for the Southern region, elected on the Popular Alliance-UDEUR ticket. He sat on the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and was a member of the Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan and EU-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia and a substitute for the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union (including Libya).

He has been convicted for illegal financing (sentenced to 1 year and 8 months) and he negotiated (thereby admitting guilt) 2 months for corruption and hidden funds.

* 1973-1976: Councillor (1970-1979) and member of the Executive of the municipality of Naples with responsibility for education
* 1974-1976: Assistant national Secretary of the ANAAO - National Association of Hospital Assistants and Auxiliaries
* 1976-1993: DC national adviser
* 1976-1994: Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy
* 1983-1988: Chairman of the Committee on the Budget and Economic Planning of the Chamber of Deputies
* 1988-1989: Minister for the Civil Service
* 1989-1992: Minister for the Budget and Economic Planning
* 1992-1993: Member of national leadership of the DC
