Peel Regional Road 50

Peel Regional Road 50

Peel Regional Road 50 (formerly known as Highway 50) is a former provincial highway in Ontario, Canada, running northwest from Toronto, which has been downloaded to local authorities. South of Steeles Avenue, Highway 50 continues into Toronto as Albion Road.

A shared Regional Road

Peel Regional Road 50 is shared with the York Region Government as York Regional Road 24 (from Steeles Avenue to Mayfield Road).

Most people referred to the portion of Albion Road north of Steeles Avenue as Peel Regional Road 50. Actually, the portion of Peel Regional Road 50 from Steeles Avenue to Mayfield Road lies in York Region geographically. And therefore, the York Region government assigned this road as York Regional Road 24, however, no one seemed to notice.

Naming the road

The name Albion refers to the former Peel County Albion township, now part of the town of Caledon. There is also a major park near Palgrave, accessed by this road, Albion Hills Conservation Area, the water from these hills joining the Humber River system flowing towards Lake Ontario.
