It represents a potential future production vehicle for Lincoln, and design cues shows visual similarity with theLincoln MKS sedan, which began initial production and sales in the summer of 2008. The concept MKT vehicle is powered with a 415 hp 3.5LV6 version of Ford's new "EcoBoost " engine family - a turbochargedgasoline direct injection system, which features the horsepower capability of a larger displacement engine, with the fuel economy of a smaller engine. The MKT will be the third Lincoln crossover/SUV in the lineup, slotted between the midsize MKX crossover and the large Navigator SUV.
The concept vehicle for the display in the 2008 auto show circuit was built by Prefix Corporation located in
Rochester Hills, MI [ [http://www.prefix.com/ Prefix.com web site] .]In early September 2008, various blog sites in the Automotive community confirmed that Lincoln and parent company Ford had confirmed production of the MKT for the 2010 model year. A production version is set to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2009. Not confirmed but likely engines in the production version will be the 3.7L V6 from the MKS sedan making 275 HP and introduced later is the "
EcoBoost " 3.5L direct injected V6 making an estimated 340 HP. Both engines mated to a 6 Speed Automatic transmission.References
