The Wisconsin Junior Hockey League or "WJHL" is a new Independent Jr A Hockey League starting for the 2008-2009 season. The WJHL will play 70-game regular season schedule beginning in September 2008. The goal of the league is to "to promote junior age players in Wisconsin and help keep some homegrown talent from leaving the state while also providing them the opportunities to showcase their abilities," according to the league website.
The Wisconsin Junior Hockey League signed a three year equipment sponsorship deal with Fury, Inc. [WJHL Official Site:, [http://www.wisconsinjuniorhockeyleague.com/page/show_article/25121/10964 WJHL and FURY agree to league wide deal] , 11th March 2008] .
The League's stated goal is "to promote junior age players in Wisconsin and help keep some homegrown talent from leaving the state while also providing them the opportunities to showcase their abilities."
