Its seat is the town of Koziegłowy, which lies approximately convert|11|km|mi|0 west of Myszków and convert|41|km|mi|0|abbr=on north of the regional capital Katowice.

The gmina covers an area of convert|159.16|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 14,420 (out of which the population of Koziegłowy amounts to 2,505, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 11,915).
