"The Honeymooners" is a 2005 family comedy film, directed by John Schultz, which stars Cedric the Entertainer, Gabrielle Union, Mike Epps, and Regina Hall. It is based on the groundbreaking TV series of the same name, which also inspired television shows such as "The Flintstones". The film was heavily panned by both critics and fans of the original series (though noted film critic Roger Ebert was one of the few to give praise to the picture). The theatrical film is rated PG-13 but the DVD and VHS release is only rated PG by the MPAA to be suitable for a more family-oriented audience.

Plot

The Kramdens and the Nortons are working-class neighbors, with bus driver Ralph Kramden (Cedric the Entertainer) and sewage worker Ed Norton (Epps) being best friends. They are constantly coming up with new schemes to get rich quick, with Ralph being the mastermind. Their "schemes" involve the races, the lottery, and metal-detecting.

The driving forces behind their get-rich-quick schemes are their wives, Trixie (Hall) and Alice (Union), and both Ralph and Ed are trying to make enough money so they can afford the homes they think they deserve. While they are trying to achieve this, Alice and Trixie make ends meet by waitressing at the local diner.

Tagline: "Dream big. Scheme bigger."

Trivia

*When Ralph tells Alice that he and Norton have to go to the lodge, Alice asks "What are you, Fred Flintstone?" In this particular setting, the joke is rather ironic, since "The Flintstones" was based on the original "The Honeymooners".

*The opening sequence is said to take place in 1999, however you can tell it was filmed later on by three things:
-Ralph's bus had an American flag in its window. Buses and trains in New York City only got these decals after 9/11.
-Ralph's bus also had the current New York license plate, known as the Empire Plate, which wasn't issued until 2000. In 1999, his bus would still have the prior Liberty Plate with the Statue of Liberty on it.
-The walk signals at the visible crosswalks featured a hand and a walking man. These wouldn't start gaining prominence in the city until the 2000s. In 1999, these signs still read "Walk" and "Don't Walk."
