This article provides a list of all known 1950's episodes of The Honeymooners, including both the filmed half-hour episodes (the "Classic 39") and the live sketches known as the "lost episodes."The first Honeymooners sketches aired during the third season (1951-1952) of Cavalcade of Stars on the DuMont network. Eight of these early sketches, featuring Pert Kelton as Alice, are known to exist today. All but one ("Alice and Ralph Get Dressed for a Date Last Night") aired once again as part of two specials on the Disney Channel in 1993 and made their home video debut on MPI's DVD set "The Honeymooners Lost Episodes: The Complete Restored Series" on October 4, 2011.
Additionally, the cast reprised two Honeymooners sketches from Cavalcade of Stars on Ed Sullivan's CBS program Toast of the Town (later known as The Ed Sullivan Show) in the spring of 1952.
Jackie Gleason moved to CBS in the fall of 1952 and continued the Honeymooners sketches with Audrey Meadows as Alice. 84 Honeymooners sketches are known to have aired during the first three seasons of The Jackie Gleason Show. For the 1955-56 season, the live variety show was dropped in favor of half-hour filmed episodes of The Honeymooners. After only one season and 39 episodes of The Honeymooners, The Jackie Gleason Show was resumed in the fall of 1956, and 20 more Honeymooners sketches were performed.
The "Classic 39" episodes have been in syndication since the late 1950's and have been released on home video. 71 of the 103 known CBS sketches aired in syndication after their rediscovery in the 1980's and became known as the "lost episodes." 78 were released on home video by MPI in the 1990's. In recent years, several of the remaining sketches have turned up in film archives and private collections. Others had existed all along but were held back for various reasons.
On October 4, 2011, MPI Home Video released a 15-disc DVD boxed set, "The Honeymooners Lost Episodes: The Complete Restored Series," containing the most complete collection of 1950's Honeymooners sketches ever assembled. Along with the 8 DuMont sketches previously mentioned, the set features all 98 existing CBS sketches. The remaining three unique CBS sketches are represented on the DVD in script form.
For descriptions of the non-Honeymooners material on The Jackie Gleason Show (1952-1957), see List of The Jackie Gleason Show episodes.
