Anchery {അേഞ്ചരി} is a small village in Puthuppally Panchayat in the Kottayam district of Kerala,South India. As per the government records, this region is known as Pariyaram. However the name Anchery is known to this region because of the Anchery Family. Anchery name is originated from the Malayalam word Anchu (five), and Cheri(Division or area of land). The present day population of this village are mostly Christians and descendents of different ancient Suriyani (Syrian) Christian Kudumbams.(Families)

Anchery Kudumbam(Family) is the descendants of Anchery Punnoose Mappila a powerful Dewan of the Rajaas of Thekkumcore, in the 16th century. He was migrated and settled in Anchery from Bharananganam near Palai, Kerala. (Reference: Anchery Kudumba Charithram -history of the Anchery family). The family members are now scattered around the world. On May 1st of each year in Anchery there is a gathering of family members (Anchery Kudumbayogam) to meet and get-together. Anchery Christos Marthoma church, St.Peter’s Orthodox Church, St.Mary’s Malankara Catholic church, St. John’s CSI Church and Carmel India Pentecostal Church are the main Churches in Anchery. There is one Hindu temple in Anchery. The Pariyaram Government Primary School is the only educational institution in Anchery. There is a State Bank of Travancore (Pariyaram) Branch in Anchery.The YMCA is located at Narimattam Kavala in Anchery.

Joseph Mar Barnabas Thirumeni, an Episcopa of the Mar Thoma Church is a prominent resident of Anchery.

Rubber, Tappioka, Banana, Coconut, Black pepper and many other tropical agricultural products are the major source of revenue in this place.
