Anchery {അേഞ്ചരി} is a small
village inPuthuppally Panchayat in theKottayam district ofKerala ,South India . As per the government records, this region is known as Pariyaram. However the name Anchery is known to this region because of theAnchery Family .Anchery name is originated from the Malayalam word Anchu (five), and Cheri(Division or area of land). The present day population of this village are mostly Christians and descendents of different ancient Suriyani (Syrian) Christian Kudumbams.(Families)Anchery Kudumbam (Family) is the descendants of Anchery Punnoose Mappila a powerful Dewan of the Rajaas of Thekkumcore, in the 16th century.
