- Peruvamkulangara
Peruvamkulangara is a small administrative ward near
Ollur ,Thrissur district ,Kerala ,India . The term comes from "Peruvan" (very big) "kulam" (pond) "kara" (shore). It is likely that there was a huge pond (there still is a small drying pond existing) some time back, and the people lived near that pond. Now, most of the paddy field near this pond is converted to residential area.Peruvamkulangara is a good example for the complex administrative system (of dividing the country into states,
districts ,talukas ,villages and finally into wards, and its effects on society in India. The area though has a specific name, people of this area do not identify themselves with the name of 'Peruvamkulangara' often. For administrative purposes some houses of Peruvamkulangara falls under the village ofKuttanellur . But, some of them fall with Trichur corporation. As this area is in the fringes of the village territory ofKuttanellur , people often go toOllur to meet their market needs, or to access the city ofThrissur .Though this split-identity is an important problem, the people of Peruvamkulangra enjoy the benefits of facilities from the small towns of Ollur, Padavarad and Anchery.
