Staines High Street railway station
- Staines High Street railway station
Staines High Street railway station was on the Windsor & Eton line of the London and South Western Railway. It was opened in 1887 and closed in 1916. It was built for trains using the West Curve and when passenger services no longer ran via that chord, it became redundant. The main station was only half a mile distant. A multi-level car park stands on the site of the chord.
Airtrack Proposal
Under the Heathrow Airtrack rail link proposal the West Curve would be reinstated and a new Staines High Street railway station [cite web |url= http://airtrack.org/what_is_airtrack.htm|title= What is AirTrack? |accessdate=2008-02-24 |author=AirTrack Forum] would be built. The present Staines station, which has been called Staines Central, Staines Junction, Staines Old and Staines[cite book | last=Brown | first=Joe | title=London Railway Atlas | date=2006 | id=ISBN 978-0-7110-3137-1 - pp.37] , might be renamed to avoid confusion.]
