County Longford , Ireland, in the village ofAbbeyshrule . Although near the centre of Ireland, the aerodrome is situated outside many flying restriction zones in place through Ireland. [ [http://www.flyinginireland.com/airports.htm#EIAB THE resource for all Irish Aviation Information:- Irish Airports ] ]The bituminous runway is 799m long and 18m wide. The aerodrome is home to Aeroclub 2000, who are an RTF (Registered Training Facility), and many aircraft, which include a rather odd looking Malmo MF-1-9 Junior. On the north of the field, an assembly plant and a hangar was recently completed. The Abbeyshrule assembly plant produces the popular Czech kit planes, called Samba and Lambada.
Location
Abbeyshrule Aerodrome is near the village, located beside the Royal Canal.
The airport is growing popular for midland business affairs, being geographically well situated between major urban centres such as
Athlone ,Longford ,Mullingar , permitting business swift access to ParisBeauvais .References
