Lynchburg Hillcats , a Class High-Aminor league baseball team and an affiliate of thePittsburgh Pirates . The team is located in Lynchburg.WKDE-FM is also the flagship station of the Altavista Colonels high school football and basketball teams. Virginia Association of Broadcasters award-winning sportscaster Bob Alvis calls the play-by-play for most of the high school games, assisted often by co-host Kyle Hoehne. The VAB Award-Winning team of Dave Hoehne and Mark Slusher also call games.
Bluegrass
WKDE-FM broadcasts two nationally syndicated bluegrass programs on Sunday evenings from 7 to 9 PM.: "This is Bluegrass" with Tom Henderson and "Into the Blue" with Terry Herd. On Mondays through Thursdays, "The Bluegrass Ramble" is locally produced and hosted by Judy Kaye Shelton.
