MED15

PC2 (positive cofactor 2, multiprotein complex) glutamine/Q-rich-associated protein, also known as PCQAP, or ARC105, or TIG-1, or , is a human gene.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: PCQAP PC2 (positive cofactor 2, multiprotein complex) glutamine/Q-rich-associated protein| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=51586| accessdate = ]

Function

The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the multiprotein complexes PC2 and ARC/DRIP and may function as a transcriptional coactivator in RNA polymerase II transcription. This gene contains stretches of trinucleotide repeats and is located in the chromosome 22 region which is deleted in DiGeorge syndrome. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. MED15 cooperates with SREBP to regulate sterol responsive gene expression, ad this regulatory action is conserved in the nematode "C. elegans" (homologues MDT-15 and SBP-1). Also in "C. elegans", MDT-15 is essential for the response to several stresses (fasting, heavy metal, toxin, and oxidative stress); at least in part the fasting response is conferred by interactions of MDT-15 with nuclear receptors, including NHR-49.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: PCQAP PC2 (positive cofactor 2, multiprotein complex) glutamine/Q-rich-associated protein| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=51586| accessdate = ]
