GNVQ Part 1 Courses. The school day is of 6 x 50 minute periods, 4 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.The school offers 21 A-Level courses plus

Pastoral and social organisation is by mixed ability tutor groups within Year Groups; Heads of Year have substantial responsibility for Years 9, 10, 11 and 12/13 respectively. In addition to their subject teaching commitments all form tutors teach their own form for one period per week as part of a planned programme of personal and social education, careers etc.
The school has a great tradition of athletic and sporting success. Drama is very strong in the school, both in the high quality of productions and the excellence of results. Music is also flourishing with a woodwind ensemble, windband and large choir. There are exchange links with France and Spain. Parties regularly travel abroad for study visits, along with skiing, hockey and soccer trips.
Examination Results
The School's results in
KS3 Tests are well above national averages. Over the past 5 years examination results atGCSE have risen steadily to match national averages. In 2002 45% of students obtained 5 or more A*-C grades, 92% 5 or more A*-G grades and 99% 1 or more A*-G grades. The School's Sixth Form continues to expand steadily and over the past 3 years we have averaged a pass rate of over 90% at A-Level and an average points score of 15.7.The School is very enthusiastic about tests.Notable Alumni
