- Pyridoxal kinase
In
enzymology , a pyridoxal kinase (EC number|2.7.1.35) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :ATP + pyridoxal ADP + pyridoxal 5'-phosphate
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are ATP and
pyridoxal , whereas its two products are ADP andpyridoxal 5'-phosphate .This enzyme belongs to the family of
transferase s, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferase s) with an alcohol group as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is ATP:pyridoxal 5'-phosphotransferase. Other names in common use include pyridoxal kinase (phosphorylating), pyridoxal 5-phosphate-kinase, pyridoxal phosphokinase, and pyridoxine kinase. This enzyme participates invitamin b6 metabolism .tructural studies
As of late 2007, 15 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1LHP, PDB link|1LHR, PDB link|1RFT, PDB link|1RFU, PDB link|1RFV, PDB link|1TD2, PDB link|1VI9, PDB link|1YGJ, PDB link|1YGK, PDB link|1YHJ, PDB link|2AJP, PDB link|2DDM, PDB link|2DDO, PDB link|2DDW, and PDB link|2F7K.
