Laxton, Northamptonshire

Laxton, Northamptonshire

Laxton is a small English village in East Northamptonshire, 7 miles east of Corby and approximately one mile west of the A43.

Laxton Hall was constructed in the 18th century but much modified in the 19th century. It was altered again in 1867-8 for the seventh Lord Carbery. Laxton Hall is now a Residential Care Home for the Polish community. [http://www.laxtonhall.co.uk/?p=home]

The village was rebuilt by George Freke Evans, as a model village to designs by Humphry Repton.

The church, dedicated to All Saints, was rebuilt in 1867 but retains a mediaeval tower.
