Ras Al-khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKMHSU) is a new medical university in Ras al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The university was established by the Ras Al Khaimah Human Development Foundation (RAK – HDF) under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi, Crown Prince & Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Chancellor of the University. RAK-HDF is a joint venture of the Ras al-Khaimah Government, Al Ghurair Investments and ETA Ascon Group, Dubai.

College of Medical Sciences offers Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), comprising of 2 years of basic sciences, 3 years of clinical sciences and training and one year of internship.

The curriculum has been developed to provide learning opportunities enabling medical students to acquire fundamental knowledge, develop basic skills and appropriate principles relevant to health care in the context of the community.

The five year curriculum has been designed to follow system wise, integrated and problem based approach to medical science. It integrates basic sciences with clinical sciences to enable the students to apply their knowledge to health care and develop a professional and compassionate approach to the analysis and management of health care.

The MBBS program obtained Initial Accreditation from Ministry of Higher Education,UAE in July 2006 and the first academic session commenced in Oct 2006. Admission is in progress for the next academic session commencing Sept 2007.

College of Dental Sciences (BDS)

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery ( B D S) program is of five years duration followed by one year internship.

The program comprises six months of general education, two years of basic medical and dental sciences and two-and-half years of clinical dental sciences. This is followed by a year of dental internship.

The curriculum has been developed to provide learning opportunities enabling dental students to acquire fundamental knowledge, develop basic skills and appropriate principles relevant to oral health care in the context of the community.

The graduates of this program shall have opportunities to work in general practice, the community dental service, hospital practice, university teaching and research in various individual organizations.

The BDS program has obtained Initial Accreditation from Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE and admission is in progress for the academic session commencing September 2007.

The backbone of the Dental College is Riphaa Group based out of Pakistan. It's most notable university is Internationl Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) which will provide the staff and the resources needed to provide world class education.

College of Pharamacuetical Sciences (B Pharm)

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm), comprises 6 months of general education, one year of basic sciences, two-and-half years of pharmaceutical sciences and training and 6 months of Practice School.The total program duration is four and half years.

College of Nursing offers Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) of four year duration.

The four year curriculum has been designed to provide quality education in nursing which is comparable to the international levels. It also ensures that each student is exposed to professional knowledge and practice through evidence–based learning and problem-solving approaches.

The B.Sc.Nursing program has obtained Initial Accreditation from Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE and admission is in progress for the academic session commencing September 2007.

Student Council

RAK MHS University encourages students to voice out their needs through Student Council. The Student Council shall represent the student body. The Student Council ensures a speedy acclimatization of new students to RAK MHS University by promoting healthy friendships. Student Council holds regular meetings to organize activities such as orientation, sports, cultural programs, competitions, and magazine publication.

Extracurricular Activities

RAK MHS University organizes many social, cultural and entertainment programs. Students are encouraged to develop their interests and abilities, and to practice their hobbies through a variety of programs and activities. The University places a lot of emphasis on its extra curricular activities, and enables students to make good use of their leisure time through forming student cultural and scientific societies.

Sports

The sports facility at RAK MHSU meets the athletic needs of the students. The indoor facilities include volleyball, table tennis, fitness centre, and tennis. The football, basketball and tennis courts are located within the campus. The office of the Student Affairs organizes, and co-ordinates all the athletic events and sports activities.
