"The GUIDON", or simply Guidon, is the official student newspaper of the Ateneo de Manila University. It is part of the Ateneo's Confederation of Publications (COP), including "Heights" and "Matanglawin". [ [http://www.ateneo.edu/index.php?p=126 Ateneo de Manila University ] ] It is published monthly from June to March.

Now on its 79th year, "The GUIDON" has three main purposes: to serve as a record of Ateneo history-in-the-making; to serve as an organ of journalistic expression; and to serve God and the country. "The GUIDON" is one of the founding members of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines, along with "The Varsitarian" of the University of Santo Tomas, "The Philippine Collegian" of the University of the Philippines, Diliman and "The National" of National University.Fact|date=December 2007

It has three sections, namely: the Main (which include News, Opinion, Beyond Loyola, and Sports) section, the Features section, and the Inquiry section. The Inquiry section deals with explanatory and investigative journalism while The Beyond Loyola section tackles with issues outside the Ateneo campus, such as the recent Human Security Act and the Sumilao March. Aside from the three sections which are in print, "The GUIDON" also has an official website and a lifestyle magazine online.

Since 1929, the publication has produced a lot of prominent people, including journalists, writers, and broadcast reporters, such as Dong Puno, Max Soliven, Luli Arroyo, Willard Cheng, and many others. [ [http://www.admu.edu.ph/index.php?p=155 Ateneo de Manila University ] ]
