History
Manta Swim Club was formed by the merger between the Cardinal and Dolphin Swim Clubs in 1981. The purpose of the merger was to create a more nationally competitive swim team to represent Manitoba Swimming.
The Manta Ray logo first appeared on a newsletter in 1989. Later that year, the Manta Ray was made the official logo of the Manta Swim Club and a contest was held to name it. The winning name was "Rayzer". This name was chosen as it was a play on words between "Racer" and "Razor". Plus the name includes the word "Ray" in it as well, as the logo was of a Manta Ray.
The first official Slogan of the Manta Swim Club was "Creating More Than A Ripple". In 2005 this was changed to "Respect * Toughness * Pride." This new slogan can be seen on all Manta T-Shirts in various word orders.
In 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 Manta had team members on the Canadian Olympic team.
In 2007 Manta Swim Club made up 12 out of 16 Team Manitoba team members to compete in the Western Canada Summer Games in swimming.
